Predator Drone Here is the ifficial description:
"Latin Alliance: Can fly out 2 spaces and attack any land territory with 2 dice, needing 3 or less to hit. Can only be shot down by Air Defense when attacking."
Does this mean that if there is no AD guns in the defending state that a single predator drone could be used to eliminate a deffense of 20 or whatever? Or does it only get to attack a certain number of times?
Since you cannot attack twice you Latins can't clear a territory this way then take it with a single infantry.
Am I understanding the threat of the Predator Drone correctly here? Friday 7/24/2009 |

Re: Predator Drone Nope. Only land, makes it weak.
Its classification was changed from Fighter to Bomber when the Stealth Tech was set to immunity from AD for fighters. [considered unfair to have a fighter that couldn't be shot down or defneded against - too much like have cruise missile :-)]
Now, a side affect is that it can conduct bombing raides. I think that's fine. As is: if there are 2 AD in a country on average the you will lose clsoe a third of your drones where by default they only destroy on average a single piece - an infantry. So you can expect to make 3 runs. You kill 2 infantry (6 IC) and then lose a 10 IC piece. If you send a sorty of of 6 and only lose 1 then you will probably score maybe 3 (again a 9-10 trade in their favor) With tech upgrades your odds should be able to improve. Re: Predator Drone Predators look overpower on paper, but they have tended to be truly scary in games that go really long; which doesn't happen often. They are too pricey to be used in numbers in most games. Giving them bomber ability though makes me rethink this somewhat...
The only game that I was really terrified by them was this really good free for all that went so long that everyone in the final 4 or 5 had all tech and a ton of cash. The LA player had hordes of predators...I think I finally killed them either with cruise missiles or nukes. Thursday 7/29/2010 04:59:37 PM |
