  • Board Game and Online Game Differences

Item Board Version Online Version Reason
Specialty Units None Has them Specialty units add a lot of strategy and intrigue to the game. Unfortuanately it would be too expensive to produce all those units for the board game.
Plane Attack Movement Planes can land on any friendly territory Plane must return to the same location they launched from It would add too much special code and babysitting of the planes to allow for this online.
Unit Cost Everything rounded to 5 IC Various costs Having money in the board game creates a lot of wasted time and makes a mess of the playing table. I eliminated money in the latest version of the board game as a way of speeding up the game. Since the computer tracks all money that wasn't neccessary for the online version.
Saving Money Can't save Can save Since money is not used in the board game, you can't save it. For online game you can.
Technologies Old Version New Version Online uses the latest technologies. Its best to use the new technology tree when playing the board game as well.
Transports Can move through enemy sea zones. Can only land in one country. Cannot move through enemy sea zones. Allows landings at multiple places For coding reasons it was simpler to make it work this way.
